3 Days 17 Hours to Christmas

I'm SO excited about Christmas. I'm waiting at the airport for my flight to Bloem (and subsequent drive to Welkom), counting down the hours :P

Heath's been up there for a week already and I'm really looking forward to seeing her again. It sounds like she's had a great time with Fi and her folks, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them all as well.

But I digress... back to Christmas! What does Christmas really mean? I know I get excited about the presents and all, and much more excited about giving them, rather than receiving them (please Santa, I do still want my prezzies ;) ), but that's not what it's really about is it?

What are your thoughts on Christmas?

Neil and I get these emails from Steve and Cindy Wright - Marriage Message Newsletter and in their recent mail they were asking the same question! So Neil and I really chatted about it and of course it is nice to give and receive presents but the bigger meaning was the Jesus was born! So we agreed that celebrations were in order! But not to get caught in all the commercialised mumbo that everyone is into. It just takes the beauty of the actual meaning away from it as we will all be stressing to have the perfect Christmas tree and the perfect lunch for friends etc! So we slowed it down a bit, put limits on how much we were going to spend on pressies (and you can still get a lot with 40 euros may I tell you! ;) ). And we will refelct rather than sweat on Christmas day! :)

    What are your thoughts?
