mobile expressions

Just wanted to see if i could email from my mobile! Enjoy your weekend people.

QuickIM ROCKS!

I discovered QuickIM last night. It's an app for your mobile phone that allows you to log in to messenger! I kid you not. This is the coolest app ever!

I did a few caluclations (feel free to double check)
I was online (logged in) for 50 mins last night. 19kB sent and 26kB received = 45kB data.
My cellular service provider charges R2.00 per MB.
Therefore, my conversation with Charpie last night cost me (45/1024*2) 9 cents!

This is a killer app for mobile phones!

Psalm 23 (For the Work Place)

I don't know where this came from originally, but thanks to Andale for passing it on:

"The Lord is my real boss, and I shall not want. He gives me peace, when
chaos is all around me. He gently reminds me to pray and do all things
without murmuring and complaining. He reminds me that he is my source
and not my job. He restores my sanity everyday and guides my decisions
that I might honor him in all that I do. Even though I face absurd
amounts of e-mails, system crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget
cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors and an aging
body that doesn't cooperate every morning, I still will not stop---
for He is with me! His presence, His peace, and His power will see me
through. He raises me up, even when they fail to promote me. He claims
me as His own, even when the company threatens to let me go. His
Faithfulness and love is better than any bonus check. His retirement
plan beats every 401k there is! When it's all said and done, I'll be
working for Him a whole lot longer and for that, I BLESS HIS NAME!!!!!!" (Anonymous)

According to my wife

“This Monday went straight past blue to Indigo, raced passed Violet and was hitting Black by 12pm!”

Where are all the pictures?

So I said in the last post that I would put up some pictures from my trip to Jozi...but let's start at the begining.

It started last Wedneday. I woke up to the sounds of a buzzing alarm clock. But it wasn't mine! One of the rooms in the dorm passage (in Jozi), was ringing inssesently. 5am + Gauteng = COLD. And now I'm grumpy, beacuse i'm awake and can't get back to sleep because of this bl..dy alarm clock!

Around 5:30, I start to hear Praise and Worship music coming from the passage. As I'm awake, I deceide to check it out. The dude across the hall from me is playing his Hillsong music. It was just what I needed. I got out my Bible, and notebook, and spend some time in prayer, especially for the guys from our church that are in Zimbabwe.

Around 6:30 I actually sent and chatted to the dude across the hall (his name was Marcus). WOW. God is a great God. I knows our needs and just how to fulfill them. After a really good chat, and a quick prayer for one another, it was time to start the day.

Now, SAA, our local airline and my carrier of choice, was having some problems with wage disputes, and as we were supposed to be flying back to PE, things weren't looking good for us. We got to the airport at 4:30, and managed to get seats on the 4:50 flight (we were supposed to leave at 6:50!). Unfortuantely, when I went through security, I was stoppedbecause I had "sharp objects" on my person. I had forgotten about my pocket-knife! The security lady MADE be check in my bag, with my laptop and digital camera, and my bible and notebook! And you can imagine what didn't arrive in PE!

So for the past few days I've been sorting out insurance quotes. And am unable to show you the pictures as promised!

However, this weekend wasn't all bad. Heath and I did go and see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday. Jonny Depp was very good, but, IMHO, he lacked that special something that Gene Wilder gave to the role in the original movie. But that aside, a very good movie.

And next weekend, we're going to Kenton-on-Sea with some friends. I'm looking forward to showing Heath where I spent most of my childhood holidays....

Gees, this was a long post. For those of you that made it this far, well done. For the rest of you, you're just damn rude!

Oh, one last thing, well done BRabbit on your preach yesterday, 2 thumbs up!

...from Jozi

I've managed to sneak a few moments of Internet time at an Internet Cafe in Menlyn Mall. We've been having a really interesting time in Jozi. DD and Telkom gave very informative talks. I can't wait for Sun's presentations tomorrow. They're normally pretty good. I should get some pics up when I get back to the Bay...

Going away...

Getting things written on this blog is more difficult than I thought it would be! Who knew I was such a boring person :P

I'm off to Jozi next week for a few days on business. I'm looking forward to the trip, but I'm going to miss my wife! Especially in the cold Gauteng nights! Babe's, I'll be back soon.

A few people from my church, Joy to the Nations, are also leaving for Zimbabwe tomorrow. They're going to outreaches in Gweru and Queque(?). It'e really cool to be part of something that is affecting the nations, even in a small way.

until next time...
