Long weekend...

Long weekends are like mini Christmases, so great to look forward to, always stacks of fun, with too much laughter and way too much food! (Warrick, we blame you for the food…you’re too good a cook).

Craig and I spent the weekend at Kleinemond with Gareth and Louise, Garth and Debbie and the almost-wedded-ones Warrick and Leigh. What a beautiful place! We were somewhat concerned at the idea of staying in a shack for the whole weekend, having been warned ad-nauseum by Leigh that “Guys it is FREEZING there!!!” and also having experience of the vast range that the term ‘shack’ covers from person to person. Craig and I had quite a bit of fun on the way up guessing what manner of shack this one would turn out to be and just how rustic our stay would get. Turned out to be pleasantly civilized. Electricity, running water and indoor loo. Now, that’s my kind of shack!

The weather was absolutely glorious all weekend and I ended up wearing one of Craig’s T-shirts over 4 consecutive days, not having packed any of my own. (Thanks Leigh ;-) It was not so freezing!) We went on fantastic beach walks, wow, the view is incredible! There are 3 huge rock outcrops called the Three Sisters and the view from the top is breath-taking! How great is the Creator! That reminds me of a quote I read today, it’s by Christina Rossetti and I think it’s stunning:

“Were there no God, we would be in this glorious world

with grateful hearts…and no one to thank.”

The guys totally annihilated us at Battle of the Sexes and then the following night held a rather hysterical (I think we were all rather tired) game of 30 Seconds. Debbie, you’re right, there’s no excuse for us not getting the Weetbix answer!

Between braai’s, French-toast, pottjie’s and vast amounts of chocolate, lots of laughter and friendships deepened it was a stunning weekend away! We’re back at the grind now, with my OS assignments due in just under 2 weeks time, and with Craig and I facing some exciting decisions for the future.

Life is abundantly exciting!
